How do you bring troops from mothership to the surface of a planet in a planetary assault?

How do you bring troops from mothership to the surface of a planet in a planetary assault?
Well, first, you have the option of dropships, that come from the mothership. Now the real question and topic for today is if you want to represent dropship on a tabletop wargame, what are you options in 6mm miniatures ranges existing out there?
I have gathered some examples of 6mm miniatures from the most known companies and here it is what I have found out:

1. Corvo Dropship
BR027, Alternative Armies, 20 pounds, resin+metal, 110mm
This is an impressive kit, but is the only dropship I have so I cannot actually compare, although, you will see, there are some characteristics noted on the producers' sites for other miniatures so we can make some preliminary comparisons. The kit can be assembled quick and easy. The thing is that is hard to get, because it is quite expensive (I've got mine for free, during a sell promotion).

In the pictures above you can see several ground vehicles and also the mighty Corvo Ship.

2. Tactical Interface Transport
DSM-118, Ground Zero Games, 6 pounds, metal, 60mm
As I know many miniatures from GZG, I can expect only good things from this miniature. Of course, we do not have images of this miniature, as for many from GZG's site (but you still, I love their miniatures and service...). A search on the internet was also inconclusive. Has someone bought any?

3. L13 Assault Dropship
Strato Minis Studio, 29 dollars, resin, ?mm
Classified as super-heavy, "quite massive sculpt with 15 parts", this could potentially be another interesting miniature. As for Corvo Dropship, this is expensive, although the details from the images posted on the site suggest an interesting model to paint and to use.

4. Dropships from BattleTech
Ral Partha Europe, metal, ?mm
20-153 Leopard Class Dropships #1
20-175 Broadsword Dropship
20-180 Carrier Dropship
20-183 Achilles Assault Dropship
20-186 Noruff Assault Dropship
20-190 Hamilcar Assault Dropship
Except Carrier Dropship (4.75 pounds) and Leopard Class Dropship (5.5 pounds), all the dropships cost 5 pounds. All of them come in a pack of three.
My concern with all the dropships from BattleTech AeroTech range of miniatures from Ral Partha Europe, is that they are small, done to represent the ships compared to other ships, and not to ground units.

5. Novan Elites Eagle Dropship
Defeat in Detail 6mm, Vanguard Miniatures, 25 pounds, resin, 92mm
This is a dropship from the Tusculum Nova - Novan Elites faction from Defeat in Detail miniatures. It looks big, as its price, but Vanguard Miniatures do a really good job on all the miniatures I've painted from them.

6. Novan Elites Wyvern Light Dropship
Defeat in Detail 6mm, Vanguard Miniatures, 10 pounds, resin, 50mm
This is a dropship from the Tusculum Nova - Novan Elites faction from Defeat in Detail miniatures. It can be assembled in two variants: as a troop carrier or cargo module hauler.

These are all the dropships that I know of. Are there other dropships that could be useful? We should look for other scales/measure to find out worthy and adaptable miniatures (10mm, 15mm)?
Are they really used in a wargame? The latter is quite an important question. I think they are used like artillery in WW2 wargames, meaning mostly as off-table representation. Still, is good to have one or two, especially if you plan to play a scenario or campaign.
As for other option than dropship to bring troops in a planetary assault, I do not know. I can think of teleporting or magically casting them, but not to many other ideas to represent in a game. Are there any?
