After a gaming session a thought came into my mind, that it would be nice to have a solution to represent laser effect on wargaming table, apart from an actual hobby laser tool. I quickly got an idea: employing red sewing thread to represent the laser effect from a targeting equipment of a weapon or even the fire of a laser weapon. Laser effect in wargames can be pretty spectacular so I guess some of you have already try it and came up with an even better solution. Don't be shy, share it in the comments section!
Meanwhile, a little sci-fi story to properly introduce the laser effect and also some of the alien flora I have worked on and on for the past few weeks. But more on this latter subject on a subsequent article.

Here, we are in a fairly remote planet (cliche, I know, but it is the truth) from Obeda IX, in an actual training ground for Kwang-Lu mercenary battlegroup. After months of practically doing nothing at all, the rank and file of Kwang-Lu are testing their fighting capability.
Here, they are shooting at a past-ages tank, now more a luxury item for those wealthy enough that can afford to buy one: Leopard II tank. A rumour says that a piece of this modern Earth tank was sold on the black market to more than half the price for trading agreements that Zibral Mining Conglomerate offers.
Target unit: Leopard II, Heroics and Ros.
Kwang-Lu attacking unit: Liberator II Tank PPC Gun, Solar Empire Marines.
And as we are writing about Zibral... in the above pictures you can see a Bulldog tank sharing the same fate as Leopard 2. The Bulldog tank are one of the most representative combat vehicle for the special forces employed by Zibral Mining Conglomerate to protect its interests.
Target unit: UEF Bulldog Main Battle Tank, Nuclear Shrimp Games.
Kwang-Lu attacking unit: Liberator II Tank PPC Gun, Solar Empire Marines.
Below there are many pictures from a showdown in the jungles of Obeda IX. This intensified military exercise could mean nothing but something bad for at least half of the inhabited Marianne planetary system, lying just north of Obeda, across the Ned asteroid belt and just past deserted Black Widow nebula.
Unfortunately our transmission from one of the satellites of the Sigma surveillances system ended up abruptly, just before we could collect more info on this nightmare waiting to happen.
Until further notice, over and out... and brace yourself for what is more to come!

Hope you like this solution for representing laser on tabletop. It is not without its flaws (the sewing thread can be substituted by a gout thread to avoid the waves of the sewing thread). Tutorial? Buy a red spool with sewing thread, cut some thread as desired, employ, have fun and you are done :)
