Why
Beyond the Gates of Antares attracted me from the first images that I have seen about this game, while searching on the website of Warlord Games, their producer, for Bolt Action products, their other wargame, but set in WW2. Both game are in 28mm. I like the factions represented in the wargame Beyond the Gates of Antares and the design of miniatures so with these two in mind I have tried to collect some of their miniatures.
How
The miniatures need to be assembled, cleaned with liquid soap, primed and only then painted. Apply two base coats, then wash and highlight and drybrush and another highlight step. As always you may want to adopt the canon of painting each faction or make your own painting scheme.
Results
I have collected miniatures from different sets, inclusive starter sets and made these gallery of images and review to share my experience with these miniatures from Warlord Games.
Review
The 28mm miniatures from Warlord Games and their Beyond the Gates of Antares are good, but they lack some more details to be great. I like the postures of rank and file soldiers, but the customization can be improved in terms of equipment that soldiers carry. The assembling of the miniatures is not always easy and it takes some time, especially for the miniatures that come in metal. In 28mm everything counts!
The miniatures are doing a good job in representing and better shaping the faction of the wargame and science fiction universe. And writing of universe, there are many things that can be added to the story of the factions and general context of the universe to make it better, but maybe this will happen in the future.
The designs of the miniatures is quite good, and is one of the points that attracted me to this game and in collecting the miniatures. It still is important to me and I want to collect miniatures from this range for other factions like Boromite or Virai. The painting of these miniatures may set your imagination on fire, be warned!
