Why
I play role-playing games and I have delved in the realm of painting miniatures. When WizKids announced their new ranges of miniatures for the Dungeon and Dragons and Pathfinder, but really for any other RPG, I was happy and tried to collect some of the miniatures they released.
How
The miniatures come already primed by WizKids so you just have to start painting (no more excuses!). The miniatures paint well.
Results
Some of the miniatures they released along some years now have been collected by me, especially those for adventurers.
Review
It is hard to do a good review based on the experience I had with only some of the miniatures WizKids released. But it is also hard to collect all that they have released. So take these few point, for now, with a grain of salt, as I need to paint more miniatures to give a proper insight on them. For now I can tell you that I wanted the miniatures to be a little more detailed. Also their prices is quite high, especially when buying beyond 10 miniatures you can simply see that you spend much, but do not get that much. For other things may appear differently, this is my experience. What I have enjoyed immensely are the miniatures of wizard, sorcerers and druids, those with effect of the spells. You can paint them more good then I did, but I still enjoyed the balance between how much I wanted to paint and the level of transparency I wanted to keep, for a nice effect. I also like that for almost all the types of adventurers, and you know if you have played RPG, there are a lot, you have female and male variants of the miniatures. This is great. Also there are many species, which is another great point. There are two fantasy sets of unpainted miniatures from WizKids: Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures (for Dungeon and
Dragons RPG) and Deep Cuts Miniatures (for Pathfinder RPG), but no one will check if you use them accordingly. You can use them for different RPG, of course.
WizKids is a respected company (another renown range of miniatures is Heroclix) and does a good job in bringing the dreams of many RPG players to life, but it has a price that for some will not be possible to cover. It can be worth having them if you will use them in different RPG or even wargames and to paint them is another fun experience, because of the designs of the miniatures, but not on the side of complexity of details.
