How to make a Rocket in Flight

A tutorial for representing a rocket in flight in miniature.

This is the final result. More picture here. The base for it is a hill/mountain made from Fimo Basic (leave a day to cure/dry) and painted brown with additional coats, then Vallejo Varnish and some highlights with lighter brown. The smoke trail can be detached from the hill/mountain, the hard plastic part from the pen is embedded in it at the time of the creation, when still not dried..

5. Apply white glue on the whole thing to grant an additional resistance;6. Apply grey paint; 7. Apply white paint; 8. Apply a new coat of white paint; 9. Apply and additional tree foliage with white glue; 10. Paint it white with 2 coats; 11. Apply white glue for resistance; 12. Pick some points and paint them yellow, orange and red to represent the exhaustion of "fuel" from the rocket; 13. Adjust the smoke trail were needed by removing or adding some foliage and repeat the painting steps there; 14. Paint Vallejo Sky Grey or something similar (white grey) here and there to make the smoke more real; 15. Apply white paint were you think it is needed and decide if another white clue covering is neede, but not on the last added part (only one coat of white glue will suffice, leave this part fluffy so that it represents the newly formed smoke).

 4. Repeat the step 3 to add more foliage.

3. Cover the surface with white glue and apply hobby tree foliage - to represent smoke.

2. Bend that soft part and cut a part of the hard plastic - to represent trail of rocket and the smoke.

1. A simple pen will do (exhausted fill).
